.......The component of luminous paints is luminous pigment, organic resin, organic solvent and assistants. After film forming, it can absorb any visible lights in the daytime and shine in the dark for more than 12 hours. This process of absorbing and emitting light is recycling. How to make luminous paints: 1. choose transparent neutral or weak acid organic resin such as polyurethane resin, acrylic acid resin, epoxide resin, polyester resin, etc. 2. 20% - 50% of luminous pigments by weight is ok. Or you can choose the suitable dosage according to the different requirement for glowing time and brightness. 3. do not grind the luminous pigment, if there is deposit, use containers with ceramic or glass inner and stir it with high speed. 4. use high viscosity resin or anti-settling agent to avoid deposit. Model "C" and "D" is better. 5. Do not use heavy metal component as additives. How to use luminous paints: 1. By brushing painting, roll painting or spray painting. 2. The luminous layer should be 100-150um at least so that you can get ideal luminous effects. 3. white base coat at the bottom could improve the brightness. 4. Using varnish on the surface of luminous layer can improve its brightness and weatherability. 5. Adjust the viscosity of the luminous paints before construction and stir it until well proportioned. .......The pigment can be mixed with varieties of transparent resins and binders to produce into luminous paints and inks. The binders should be neutral or alkaline, as transparent as possible and preferably colorless. Heavy metal additives must not be used. And these resins are acrylic resin, PU resins poly acylamonia resins, amino resin, poly vinyl-alcohol Butyl aldehyde resins ,poly acylamonia resin, etc, dissolve above mentioned resins with suitable solvent, add luminous pigment into solution, add suitable anti-deposition agent, erasing foam agent, and dispersion agent, then mix to even with stirrer with high speed. But don't mill by use of three rollers machine to avoid to damage the luminous pigment. If use the sand grinder, the milling itme must be shorten as possible, the aim is to disperse the pigment. Apply a white base coat under the phosphorescent layer to improve afterglow. Using 20-40% pigment. Minimum thickness of the layer should be 100um. In order to achieve maximum afterglow, the thickness of 130-150um is required. For achieving this thickness , two passes may be necessary. The screen net should be 115-175um for getting the best effects with the luminescent inks. EXAMPLE (1): Suitable formulation of paint with luminous pigment for painting %wt

Note: This formulation requires that the binder and pigment must be not mixed until they will be used. The mixture must be used up within 2 hours A white primer coat should be aplied for enhancing the brightness. |
