LUMINESCENT CERAMIC GLAZE (LCG) INSTRUCTION

This kind of products is based on the alkaline earth aluminate for main content as raw material. This inorganic products after absorbing visible lights for 10-30 minutes, They will glow in the dark at least 12 hours. They are none of toxic and free from any radio activity and with widely used.

Luminescent ceramic glaze is based on the conventional ceramic glaze, composed with our photo luminescent pigments. It is widely used in the ceramic fields of construction, daily used and arts and crafts. Now we have low and middle temperature two series of luminescent ceramic glaze. The following is the instruction of all kinds of our luminescent ceramic glaze.

I. Luminescent ceramic glaze of middle temperature:

1. Model: ZGS—2—010

Suitable temperature:
Two times firing: 1000—1080 centigrade.
Three times firing: 980—1050 centigrade.
Glowing color: Sky-blue.

The first application method:

Luminescent ceramic glaze:
Stamp-pad ink=1 : 0.5-0.6, after mixing to equilibrium. With 100-150 mesh screen print on the not firing surface glaze. After dryness using the fast firing technical in the roller path stove fired it with 35-50 minutes.

Application field:

One time or two times of inside wall glaze bricks by firing technical.

Notice:

1. Don’t or try not add the ceramic dye to the luminescent ceramic glaze.
2. Try shortening the firing time.
3. The firing temperature should not surpass its required temperature.

The second application method:

Piled glaze dry powder:
Luminescent ceramic glaze=1:4 – 1:2 after mixing to equilibrium. According to the common cubic accumulating inflorescence way with 30-40 mesh screen on the printed design or paper manual. Firing time is about 1-2 hours.

Application field:

For manual flake and waist thread by three times firing technical way.

Notice:

1. It should rising the firing temperature or firing time if the part of plied glaze has phenomena of turbidity.
2. It will weaken the glowing effect if the firing time too long.
3. The design color under the piled glaze powder should be tinged. Deep color will weaken the glowing effect.

The third application method:

Luminescent ceramic glaze:
Stamp-pad ink=1 : 0.4, after mixing to equilibrium with thickness situation. Screen printed on the surface glaze brick with 40-60 mesh screen. After totally dryness then overprint it with ceramic dye. At last screen printed with piled glaze powder.

Application field:

For manual flake and waist thread by three times firing technical way.

Notice:

1. The dye on the luminescent glaze should be tinge. Red color will shade the light.
2. The luminescent ceramic glaze should be totally dry after printed on brick, otherwise they may cause bubble and needle hole.

2. Model: ZGB-2-010

Suitable temperature:
Two times firing: 1000—1080 centigrade.
Three times firing: 980—1050 centigrade.
Glowing color: Green-blue.

The first application method:

Luminescent ceramic glaze:

1. The covered ceramic dye on the luminescent ceramic glaze should be tinged. Deep color will weaken the glowing effect.

3. Model: ZGB-2-011

Suitable temperature: 980-1050 centigrade.
Glowing color: Green-blue.

The first application method:

Luminescent ceramic glaze:
Stamp-pad ink=1 : 0.4, after mixing to equilibrium with thickness situation. Screen printed on the surface glaze brick with 40-60 mesh screen. After totally dryness then overprint it with ceramic dye. At last screen printed with piled glaze powder.

Application field:

For manual flake and waist thread by three times firing technical way.

Notice:

1. The dye on the luminescent glaze should be tinge. Red color will shade the light.
2. The luminescent ceramic glaze should be totally dry after printed on brick, otherwise they may cause bubble and needle hole.

The second application method:

After mixing to equilibrium with the water and luminescent ceramic glaze. Then evenly spray it for one layer on the surface of the white glaze brick or just brick. Thickness is about 0.2-0.5mm. Then spray a thin layer on it with transparency glaze. After firing it then will become a whole luminescent ceramic brick. (If the spray way is of some difficulty, can also use screen print way to make it) Then for the finished products of the whole luminescent ceramic brick, just according the common three times firing way to make the cubic manual flake and waist thread.

Application field:

Two or three times firing for inside glaze brick or waist thread.

Notice:

1. Must have some certain thickness to guarantee the brightness.
2. There must have a layer of transparency glaze on the luminescent ceramic glaze to guarantee the smooth and brightness.
3. Try to decrease times for firing.
4. There should add about 2% kaolin and a little CMC as additive to the glaze during spraying. And with almost five minutes rubbing in the fast sphere rubbing machine to promote the fluidity and suspend.

4. Model: ZGO-2-011

Suitable temperature: 980-1050 centigrade.
Glowing color: Yellow-green.

The first application method:

Luminescent ceramic glaze:
Stamp-pad ink=1 : 0.4, after mixing to equilibrium with thickness situation. Screen printed on the surface glaze brick with 40-60 mesh screen. After totally dryness then overprint it with ceramic dye. At last screen printed with piled glaze powder.

Application field:

For manual flake and waist thread by three times firing technical way.

II. Low temperature luminescent ceramic glaze:

1. Model: DGS-2-4

Suitable temperature: 820-870 centigrade.
Glowing color: blue

2. Model: DGB-2-4

Suitable temperature: 820-870 centigrade.
Glowing color: Green-blue

3. Model: DGO-2-4

Suitable temperature: 820-870 centigrade.
Glowing color: Yellow-green

The using way for the low temperature ceramic glaze:

1. Mixing the glaze slip: Glaze : water=1:0.5, With additives of 1.5% CMC or Water glass. Mixing to equilibrium.
2. Glazing: Spraying, pouring, or dipping can be used for glazing.
3. Firing: Firing should be Within the required temperature for 10-15 minutes.

III. Notice:

1. For the big gravity of the ceramic glaze, It must be churn up well to prevent deposition.
2. The luminescent ceramic glaze can not in the water for long time to prevent hydrolyze.
3. If the process need rubbing, it should be in short time, otherwise if so slender by long time rubbing, it will affect the brightness.
4. Can not rub with metal, It will be let the glaze surface darken.
5. Adopt the fast firing technical, The firing temperature can not surpass the required temperature to keep the glowing effect.

Low-temperature LCG is produced by our company. The body colors of LCG are from Yellow-green to White, and the glowing colors are Blue; Blue-green and Yellow-green after absorbing the light. Our LCG can be used directly for colorful drawing on glaze or under glazes, or on bare ceramic body.

Application process:

1. Used on bare ceramic body:

A. Making glaze slip:

Glaze: water=1:0.5 (only for reference), with additives of 1.5% CMC or water glass ( or both used ), mixing to equilibrium.

B. Glazing:

Spraying, pouring, or dipping etc. can be used for glazing. Glazing by pouring is better.

C. Firing:

It is suitable for any ceramics glaze firing technology under 820º C.

2. Used on glaze or under glaze:

A. Making glaze used luminescent pigments slip:

Glaze: water=1: 0.4 (only for reference). With 1.5% additives: such as water glass, CMC or all kinds of pigment-used oils, mixing and getting the slip.

B. Colorful drawing:

The glaze-used luminescent pigment slip can be painted, drawn or sprayed on glaze or under glaze (or between glaze).

C. Firing:

It is suitable for all kinds of glaze firing technology under 820º C.

3. Product performance:

A. Brightness is larger than 450mcd/m2 (after 1 minute).
B. Firing temperature range: 780-820º C.
C. Dilation coefficient: 6.0-10.0x 10‾/º C.
D. Afterglow time: above 12 hours.
